USDM vehicles were not equipped with a rear fog light from the factory. They only have a plastic cap covering up the center of the rear bumper. No lamp, mounting bracket, mounting hardware, or wiring.
This GCS lamp includes the required parts to mount it to your USDM vehicle.
This unique light will increase viability at night and especially under foggy conditions.
It can be wired to light up with your parking / headlights or just your fog lights (with fog light extension harness).
JAB... Just another brake (light). Wire this GCS lamp into your brake light wiring and it will emit a bright red light when stopping. This light is brighter than the fog light function. Therefore people behind you will definitely know when you're braking versus simply driving with your lights on.
Here's a new function which can come in handy. The GCS rear fog light has a row of white lights to aid when backing up the vehicle. Additional light will help you see behind the vehicle and alert others.
Red Wire (socket) - Brake Light Positive
Black Wire (socket) - Ground / Negative
Green Wire (loose) - Running Light Positive
White Wire (loose) - Backup Light Positive
If you want to wire this so that it only comes on with the fog lights you'll find yourself using a pretty long run of wire.
We've made a quick connect kit which will split the wires to the passenger side fog light. Just run the wire under the driver's side fender liner, into the vehicle, and along the door sills back to the trunk of the vehicle. The insulated connectors will be placed on the F1 light harness and extension. Just connect them together and you'll have a functioning rear fog light.

This harness speeds up the install process. The stock wiring harness in the WRX / STI can be hard to crimp as the area is tight. Also owners who wish to return their setup to stock at any point and time can do so easily with this harness.
The harness has OEM style connectors on both ends which allows you to install this in-line with the factory wiring. 4 extensions allow you to connect the aftermarket fog / F1 lights.

The bumper cover does not need to be removed in order to install this product. Simply undo the fasteners at the bottom of the bumper cover so you can gain enough access to knock out the factory plastic cap.
We highly recommend covering the lens of the new fog light casing with painter's tape or something similar during installation. This will prevent scratches while you maneuver it into position.

If you use the fog light extension harness, the negative and fog light wires will be supplied by that harness. You will only use the OEM tail light harness for the brown wire (brake light positive).
You can wire the lamp as a solid brake light only. You would do this by connecting the fog light wire (red) on the lamp to the brown wire on the OEM brake light wire (brown). It would be dimmer than the F1 style lamp though.
While many states allow brake lights that flash and then turn solid, some do not. Please refer to your local laws pertaining to this feature.
It is not required that you hook up the brake light wiring. You can run the product as a rear fog light only.
Bought it for my 2015 Base Sedan which has the same GJ body as WRX and all three Brake, Reverse, and Running lights work great and it looks great too. I'm waiting on the optional extension kit so I can wire to fog lights instead of running lights. This is called a "rear fog light" but isn't actually a rear fog light but a 3rd tail light which is still great but you have to actually wire to fog lights for it to work as a fog light.
Grabbed this one (the Red model) when they were super on sale. Even at full price, I would recommend. Great addition, clean look, some extra reverse light, and it fills that silly gap where the plastic cap is. Wish Subaru would put these on from factory in the states.
I love the way they make the car look, especially at night. Love the multifunction design. Who ever thought about this is a genius. It’s easy to install. Took me about 30 minutes. I recommend these lights. You won’t regret it.
I got the smoked version for my wrx and it is awesome, I had a little trouble lining up the holes so I had to use a washer to straighten the light with the bracket. After a year it is still going strong.
With no wiring experience, the install took 15 minutes. Definitely love it.
Took me about 30mins to install the fog light. The bolts holes do not line up with the bracket. If you are buying this for a crosstrek you will have to bore out the hole a little to align it with the bracket. The screws provided are just a little too short, luckily I had some server rack screws that were just long enough to secure the light in place. Also you will have to cut out some of the body to get the light to sit flush.
