Halogen lights produce a lot more heat vs light when compared to an HID kit. You can run a lower wattage HID kit and get more light output. In addition to this, you have the option to pick various light temperatures to improve your night time driving experience.
The stock halogen projectors do a decent job of keeping the HID light focused exactly where you want it.
The AC ballast included provides the HID bulbs with a much more stable current than DC ballasts offered by many competitors.
OLM bulbs are available in a variety of colors to suite your desired output. They have a lifespan much longer than halogen bulbs. You'll get around 2500 hours out of them.

There are a few common errors during the installation of these kits. One is the polarity of the wires. Please make sure that the factory ground wire (black) is always connected to other black wires and the red wires are connected to red wires. Also, there whenever there is a (+) symbol on the ballast connector, make sure it is paired with the red wires. Black wires will be paired with (-) symbols.
Also, the extension / adapter wires can be pushed out of the socket when connecting them to the factory H11 plug. Please make sure these wires are firmly seated in the base of the plastic plug. This adapter is required because the ballast connector is not an H11 socket. It's similar, but the extension / adapter will make a much better fit. SubiSpeed only offers HID relays when they are possibly required. We have tested the current draw of this kit and found that it does not exceed the factory wiring.
It is not recommended that you touch the glass portion of the bulb for any reason. Oils from your hands can cause the bulb to shatter once it heats up. Handle the bulb by its base only.

Kit comes complete with all the wiring harness that plugs directly into the existing factory connector. Ballast is quiet and light turns on quick. I had PIAA LED bulbs and this HID kit (8000K) is brighter and definitely whiter in light output color. Hoping that this HID bulbs last a long time than the PIAA LED bulbs I replaced.
Have a 16 base, the halogen bulbs were so dull, I did not fell safe driving at night. Have had these for 2 years now and very happy. About to order another pair just as a back up. Sadly I do not see the 6k as an option anymore though
I ordered these headlights 8000k, and it didnt come with the fitment for the plug and play and usually it comes with everything ready for easy install. I contacted them about my defect and 2-3 weeks later up to no solution im still waiting for either a refund or an alternative!
So the install was very simple, but the lights themselves weren’t exactly as bright as I was hoping. They gave me the look I was going for but my visibility was honestly decreased. I might look into LED bulbs instead.
Honestly surprised this product has so many 5 star reviews because that wasn't my experience. Bought this product in Oct 2019. After blowing a fuse, I also had the new headlight blow within days of install while I'm driving at night. They send me a replacement for the entire kit. I'm like cool, I only needed just one replacement so if it goes out again I have a backup. The other side blows 3 months later. I replace that side with the leftover one from the new kit. That one blows 9 months later. Right outside of the warranty timeline. I went back to Halogen. I'd rather have ugly yellow lights rather than constantly checking your reflection in the bumper of the car in front of you thinking "Did these blow again?" You get what you pay for with a product this cheap
Had this on my frs for a few days now and it works awesome. Works perfectly for my blind ass. There was a issue with wrong parts being sent so I sent an email to sales support. David L from sales support replied to my email quicker than my frs could get to 60. He resolved my issue with the quickness and perfectly. Give this man a raise!!
Honestly just plug and play, all I had to do was move the battery and air box a little and it fits like a glove. I can actually see a big difference driving at night and gonna vibe very useful on my road trip soon!
I went with the 5000k and they look amazing. Very simple plug and play installation which took about an hour. very satisfied with this product.
The stock headlights didn't look too bad on my 2015 etc. Until I compared them side by side with the 6000K HID's I installed. They look unbelievable they made a huge difference. It was super easy to get them in and they fit like a glove. Both the HID lights locked in place and they look amazing. Make sure you order the OLM LED bulbs as well. I ordered the 2 X OLM vision circuit and it looks amazing. Don't wait on this upgrade.
Got the kit very quickly. I'm happy with everything, although I wish the wiring wasn't quite so long. Had to zip tie some things together to keep them from getting too messy, but only because my passenger side is occupied by my flex fuel kit. No big deal, still a great product and easy to install.
Such a simple mod for the price but I'll tell you that the lighting is night and day compared to the start. If you get this product, make sure you buy the boomerang bulbs for like $15. This well eliminate the halogen spot in the top outside corner of the headlight. Combo together looks amazing!
The install is simple, fit is excellent. I went with 8000k - the color and cutoff are perfect. The lights warm up pretty quickly and visibility is noticeably better at night. This was worth every penny.
Received in the mail very quickly ! These were very easy to install and took about 10 mins. I love how it came with 3m stickers to mount the ballasts. I would highly recommend this to a friend.
These are a great upgrade that look awesome on my Subi. they warm up in less than 5 seconds and make night driving easier. Combined with the LED boomerang light upgrade they make an awesome combo. I had one of the ballasts die and OLM was good on there warranty and I had a new ballast and bulb in my mailbox within a week. Great customer servicea t Subispeed.
I come from the perspective that Subaru vehicles have never had great incandescent lights. I think out of everything on this site, THIS has been the best investment I could have made. Having these on my wrx has made a world of difference for driving. I purchased the 5k lights, and have to say it is a great soft white color that looks very modern. I have had them on my car for a little over 2 months now. I have yet to get bright flashed by anyone, so it seems to me they are not too bright to oncoming traffic. I noticed they also now sell a 'all in one package', but frankly you can save yourself the $30 and just wrap the cables/ballast in a big zip tie. I had to remove the battery and air box to get my hands in comfortably. Make sure to have a socket and screwdriver with you, and about a half hour of time.
Can't say how much I love these lights. I was able to pop these in with no adjustments or leveling. The stock WRX (base model) projectors work flawlessly. Very nice cut off. Warm up time is about 5-8 seconds, and these headlights look phenomenal. Combined these with the DRL harness + LED C-lights and my WRX looks like a very upscale car now. (those dingy halogen bulbs were horrible). Install time took about 30 minutes. I mounted one ballast on top of the fuse box, and the other on top of the air box; using the INCLUDED 3M double sided tape (thank you for that!!) I ended up electrical taping the connectors just because I'm paranoid about water getting in. Other than that, this kit is freakin perfect. Do watch the wires, they liked to creep out a bit when you plug them in. Just push them back in (and watch the colors of the wires!! I messed that up on both sides of course). If you have a few basic tools and an hour to kill, this install is for you. Very easy from the start to finish. Just make sure all your wires are tight and push in to all their connections! A few tips, Airbox side: Use a long reach 10mm attachment on the right bolt to the air box, but don't unscrew all the way. Get some long needle nose pliers and unscrew very slowly and don't lose the grip or bye bye bolt. To put the airbox back in place, start from the bottom so it clips in and then pull down the metal tabs.
Easy to install and drastically improves visibility and the overall look of the car. I also have led c-lights and they look great together. The Fog lights and drls are on the way.
Simple to install. If you have larger hands like I do, be prepared to remove the battery and snorkel. Only thing I was missing out on from the Limited was the LED headlights, but I wanted cloth. This fixed it. And after seeing both the factory LEDs and my HID kit, the Limited owner wanted my lighting instead. Thanks for the taffy Subispeed btw! Only complaint I had was that the box was really, really beaten up when delivered. Half-torn on the one end, I expected to be missing parts, or something damaged. Bought these for my new 2015 wrx base model and am very pleased. its the difference between night and day with the stock bulbs and these. i got the 5000k to match the boomerang lights i also got from subispeed and the combo looks great. the boomerang are leds which will never look exactly like the hids in this kit but are very close u cant tell the difference. pretty easy install other than taking the airbox out (you need sockets not a pair of pliars) or it takes forever to unscrew the bolt at the bottom of the intake. but very easy install and mounting is a breeze just go buy double sided tape. and watch the install video. thanks guys made my car look brand new again to me. 2015 wrx owner with 13700 miles black on black.
